  • Overview

    The Retail Commercial Director is accountable for the strategic development and commercial annual fiscal delivery within the traditional trade Channels. The role requires the leadership and strategic direction to work cross functionally between Sales, Marketing, ITGB Sales, Finance, Revenue Growth Management, New Business Commercial Director, Regional Commercial Managers, IT (local & Global) and Customer Service. Aligned with the VP of Sales and working closely with ITGB Sales, build a commercially viable growth strategy, optimizing a consumer visible portfolio range, ensuring space for brand aligned consumer communications, competitive within the market and executable by the operational delivery teams.


    Key Accountabilities & Deliverables:

    • Lead the annual strategy and commercial delivery for Fontem’s portfolio within the traditional trade channels
    • Working closely with the Revenue Growth Management and US Marketing team, develop the in-store portfolio pricing model that delivers the optimal commercial return (within consumer portfolio guidelines)
    • Develop channel & customer strategies (within traditional Retail), optimizing Fontem’s portfolio and commercial ambitions
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales Operations, ITGB, Marketing, Finance, Digital, e-commerce and Customer Service to ensure the vision for consumers purchase experiences is fully integrated in all focus store touch points
    • Ensure all business proposals are aligned to the Fontem Channel strategy, drive commercial growth, have buy-in and commitment to deliver through ITGB and have clear and measureable commercial return
    • Provide input into Fontem’s 3 year commercial business plan, providing channel specific insight gained, identifying risks and opportunities, helping to shape the commercial strategy
    • Excel at being a leader and mentor for not only the New Business Development team but all Fontem employees. Lead from the front, celebrating success, reviewing failures with a strong coaching mind set and ensuring a safe working environment


    • 10 years of relevant experience in a senior commercial role
    • Bachelor’s Degree, with an MBA or other Graduate Degree preferred
    • Strategic problem solver with the ability to see the big picture as well as finer details
    • Proven history of successful people management, with a clear ability to link commercial success with employee engagement
    • Strong business acumen, analytical skills and comfort with financial analysis
    • Desire to make his/her mark in a fast-paced and dynamic high growth category with complex legal & regulatory principles
    • A strength in stakeholder management from Senior Leadership level down to Sales Force executors
